Scripture is the final authority on all matters pertaining to life
- Where scripture is clear (without ambiguity) on a matter, scripture is the final authority.
Scripture is our only user manual for teaching and leading

(NIV) “…setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.”
Scripture is always clear on matters that are fundamental to faith
- Fundamental matters have a number of references
- Where there appears to be a contradiction that can’t be explained, we hold the matter as a mystery, believing it to be held by the scriptures in perfect tension. Accordingly, we discourage division in the body over such matters.
Scripture is meant to be practised
- Bible is a practical book, not a theoretical book
- We teach and practice what the New Testament church taught and practised.
Scripture directs our practice
- We do not develop practices or teachings from anything that is not scripturally clear
- As a rule, the New Testament church forms the model on which we base our practices and values.
Scripture guides our guidance
- The Holy Spirit leads us under the authority of scripture, never in contradiction to it.
Scripture is for everyone and not just for a select, learned few
- We strongly encourage everyone to read their Bible and apply its truth to their lives daily
Scripture is easily understood by all who are willing to apply their minds to its instruction and wisdom.
